I was reading post on John Guillen’s blog. It’s about top 10 bestselling books in 2014. As he pointed out, on this list there aren’t any of self published authors. Which I think it’s a shame.
For instance there is this great writer Sally Dubats. In my opinion her “The Grimoire Chronicles” could easily take a place on “best 10” list.
But there are lots more of authors we never heard of.
Self publishing isn’t easy. It costs a lot of money and it’s very difficult to be noticed. Last year there where 600,000 self published, new books in USA only.
What I’m trying to say is, that of course we enjoy J.K. Rowling or Paolo Coelho, but we should also give a chance to not known names. You can be surprised how many talents and extraordinary books there are.
And if you don’t know where to look, there are hundreds of websites about books reviews. See what others have to say and get a new book for yourself, give a chance to an author who, with passion and a lot of work, wrote a book you would never heard of if it wasn’t for a big names of publishing companies.
See you soon
